What is needle felting? Needle felting is the process of stabbing wool roving or like material repeatedly with special barbed needles. I have worked with all types of roving from sheep, alpacas, rabbits and have even worked with real pet fur on many occasions. I start each creation with a small lump of raw wool roving and as I begin stabbing the wool, the barbs in the needles cause the wool to tangle. Felting each bit of wool into a firm shape makes it possible to create just about any shape. It takes tens of thousands of needle pokes to create each piece. Needle felting is an old art form that has only recently began to gain popularity. I feel it’s amongst the most tedious of the fiber arts. And although I love painting, photography and sculpting with clay, needle felting with wool is my medium of choice.

Do you create pose able needle felted animals? Although I gnerally like to make my creations in a fixed pose I am happy to offer you the option of pose able felted critters, I can either use a wire armature or make them 5-way jointed so they can be gently posed, although this does cause minor wear and tear on the wool so please keep that in mind.

Do you do custom / special requests? I love special requests and personalized commissioned work, feel free to email me anytime with a request, be sure to put "Felting Inquiry" in the subject line. There may be a small wait as I often have a waiting list for special orders..

How much do you charge? It really depends on the project, most mini felted projects (1"-2") start at around $125.00, small projects (3"-5") start at around $200.00, and the larger felted projects start at around $350.00 depending on the size, email me for a quote. You can also check my ETSY shop, and be sure to check eBay as I often start my auctions at a lower price.

Guarantee and payment - To be sure you are happy with your order I will always email a photo of the finished creation before I ship so that adjustments can be made, when I know you are happy I will ship your item, if for some reason you are not satisfied with your item, I will keep it and refund your money. Most transactions are handled through Paypal, but I also accept Money Orders .

Do you teach classes? - I do on occasion teach local beginning needle felting classes. The cost per student is typically between $20.00 - $30.00 depending on the size of the class. Minimun of 3 people / maximum of 10 people per class. Private lessons are $60. Classes usually last about 1 hour. Supplies are included for the class, you get to take home what you create of course, but if you wish to keep your foam pad, needles or extra wool that will cost extra.
